Our Impact at a Glance
Restoring Lives with Compassion & Expertise
Sober Recovery Drug & Alcohol Treatment and Rehabilitation Center is a co-educational, non-profit, and non-governmental organization established in 2009. Our mission is to address substance use disorders through treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, and community-based support systems.
For more than a decade, we have been supporting individuals affected by drug and alcohol addiction while engaging in awareness, advocacy, and reintegration programs that strengthen families and communities across Nepal.
Our work is built on the belief that recovery is possible when individuals are provided with structured care, consistent support, and opportunities for personal growth and social reintegration.

Mission, Vision & Values
Our Mission
To address substance use disorders through treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, and community-based support systems β providing structured care, consistent support, and opportunities for personal growth and social reintegration.
Our Vision
To build a society where individuals affected by addiction can access timely support, receive quality care, and reintegrate into society with dignity and opportunity β reducing the burden of substance use across Nepal.
Our Philosophy
Treatment does not always need to be voluntary to be effective. With the right care environment, recovery and long-term behavioral change are achievable β through awareness, structured rehabilitation, and sustained community support.
Our Working Approach
Awareness & Early Identification
Recognizing addiction early through community outreach and education.
Structured Residential Rehabilitation

Family Engagement
Involving families and communities as partners in the recovery journey.
Reintegration & Life Skills
Equipping individuals with skills for lasting independence and purpose.
Treatment Timeline & Approach
There isn't a single fixed duration for addiction treatmentβit varies depending on the person, substance, and severity. However, research consistently shows that staying in treatment longer leads to better outcomes.
Quick Answer
Effective treatment usually lasts at least 3 months, and many people benefit from 6β12 months or longer of ongoing care. Recovery isn't about a fixed timeline β it's about sustained progress.
Understanding Rehabilitation
Education is the first line of defense. We employ diverse, case-specific techniques to address addiction at its root.
Preventive Measures
- β Early Education & Awareness: Fostering open communication about substance abuse risks in families and communities.
- β Healthy Coping Mechanisms: Teaching stress management, mindfulness, and emotional regulation to prevent reliance on substances.
- β Strong Support Systems: Building reliable networks of friends, mentors, and family to provide emotional safety nets.
Targeted Techniques
Drug Addiction Care
Medical detoxification followed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify triggers, and Matrix Model techniques to prevent relapse.
Dual Diagnosis
Simultaneous treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders (like grief or trauma) using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Holistic Therapy
Integrating yoga, art therapy, and nutritional counseling to heal the mind, body, and spirit collectively.
Nepal's Drug Crisis β & Our Response
Substance use has grown into a serious public health crisis in Nepal. Understanding its scale drives everything we do.
Our Response Since 2009
Despite Nepal having around 330 rehabilitation centers, only about 5,000 individuals currently receive treatment β leaving more than 125,000 people outside formal services. Sober Recovery has been working to close that gap since our founding.
